Rap Music in Detail

The 1970’s is the period of time in which rap was introduced to the world. Rap was performed originally by people of African American and Hispanic descent in New York City. This rap music showcased violence and hatred of women as per critics, but a lot of people considered this rap as a creative exploitation of cultural expression. Film music is very much influenced by rap and pop music that have been incorporated in them.

A rap beat has rhythm and song lyrics flow to it, making it feel like a type of musical poetry. Most rap lyrics are a glimpse into a certain point of view. Most lyrics are written about the struggles that the young black rapper had to go through in his life. Some of lyrics disrespect women while others have violence as their main theme with a passion for killing.

Artistic values are the other side of this music, showcasing positive lyrics. In rap, music and lyrics are of equal importance, it is the best part of rap. Rap music got its place into mainstream music by the many popular singers that made rap famous. Still, when a fast car runs beside you on a road, you will most likely hear some sort of rap music from that car. This is the way rap got its place among the people.

When you look into the history of rap, instrumental tracks or beats that were performed by DJs, often include the rhythm and beat samplings from popular funk songs. These sampled rhythms and beats are originated or inspired by rap music only.
